OBITUARY
Mr. Grover Alfred Johnson, son of the late Pastor James Franklin Johnson Sr. and Pastor Laura Williams Johnson was born May 8, 1956 in Los Angeles, California but raised in Compton, CA. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age at New Commandment Baptist Church where his Father Elder James Franklin Johnson Sr. was the Founder and Grover was a dedicated member until the demise of his parents. He was later baptized by Elder James Davis in 1994. He attended Compton Unified School District and graduated High School from Centennial High. He went on to attend a Trade Schools for Plumbing and Ace Mechanics. He worked as a Plumber for various companies. He also worked as a Private Mechanics. Grover also had a passion for Music and was hired by Brassbell Entertainment & Jones Tone Entertainment where he sang with many different groups all over California and Las Vegas, NV. He released his Gospel CD Unity Praises in 2013.
On December 12, 1974 he was blessed with his son Eric. He then met the Love of his Life in 1976 Debra Ann Washington and was united in holy matrimony to Debra Ann (now) Johnson, on November 3rd of 1984. As a result of this Union Grover was blessed with his two beautiful daughters Mechela & Keisha. He quietly departed this life Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, California. He was preceded in death by his father, James Franklin Johnson Sr., mother, Laura Williams Johnson, sister, Myrtle Johnson-Clark, sister, Carrie Johnson-Brown, brother James Franklin Johnson Jr., sister-in-law Betty Obayuwana, brother-in-law Irvin Miles, & his grandson, Keshon Wiiliams. .
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife; Debra Ann Johnson, children; Mechela Davis, Eric Johnson, and Keisha Holmes; grandchildren; Kenberly Davis, Kenji Davis Jr., Breea Williams, Erick Johnson, Aaron Johnson and Jaide Davis, great grandchildren; Landon Nettles II and Logan Nettles, nephews; Deshaun Johnson and James Franklin Johnson III; nieces, Gianna LaTrice Johnson-Jackson and Jamie Johnson. He will also be cherished and never forgotten by his mother-in-law Marian Washington, his loving godmother Constance Berkley, his brother-in-law Manner Washington (Brenna), sister-in-laws Marilyn & Connie Washington, Goddaughters, and a host of other nieces & nephews, great nephews & nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, extended families, & friends.
