The family of Leonard Geeter, a beloved father who supported many on their way to get clean and sober, is devastated after he passed away in his home in Gardena, Calif., on June 9. He was 62. Leonard was born in Phoenix, Ariz., to loving parents Tommy Sr. and Lula May Geeter Dec. 9, 1961. He attended Paul Laurence Dunbar School and graduated from South Mountain High School in 1979. He later became skilled in carpentry. As an adult, he joined Narcotics Anonymous and overcame longtime addiction. After staying clean and sober for many years, one day at a time, he opened his home to others on their journey to sobriety. He also worked many years as a tow truck driver who offered roadside assistance to people in need. Leonard loved his family - he enjoyed good food, playing dominoes and was happy to lend a helping hand when able. He was baptized into the body of Christ and was a humble Christian in trying times. He kept his head up and worked hard. Leonard is preceded in death by his mother Lula May Geeter, his older sister Veronica and his older brother Tommy Jr. Leonard leaves behind his children Alicia, Lacresiha, JR, Natasha, Kelly, Erika, Loretta, Annika, Lorenzo, his loving father Tommy Geeter Sr., his sisters Geneva Coley (George) and Verna Roy. Services will be held June 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Imperial Church of Christ in Los Angeles. A viewing will be at Boyd Funeral Home June 19 from 2 to 3 p.m. for the general public. Flowers and tributes can be addressed to Leonard Geeter's family and sent to Imperial Church of Christ at 11316 S. San Pedro St. in Los Angeles, Calif.
