William Condon Obituary

William Paul Condon (affectionantely known by family and friends as Billy) was born on August 12, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. William passed away on the morning of August 6, 2018 after a long battle with metastatic prostate cancer. He was the only child of Daisy Jo and William A. Condon. William's early childhood was spent in Watts, California. In 1951 the Condon Family moved to Compton, California. William was raised in a loving home and close knit neighborhood where many lifelong memories and friendships were created. William attended primary, middle and part of high school in Compton; he was in the first graduating class at Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles, California in 1966.

William married Stephanie Clemons in 1967 and left for basic training in the U.S. Army later the same year. William served an extended tour in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer and returned home in 1969. After honorable discharge from the Army William began his career as an Operating Engineer; operating cranes and heavy equipment. William moved to Pasadena, California and started a family where their son Jason was born in 1971. William and his family returned to Carson, California in 1974 (where William would reside for the duration of his life). Shortly after returning to Carson, California their daughter Carmen was born in 1975. William moved his family to Vancouver, Washington in 1979 to provide a better way of life for his family where he continued his career as an Operating Engineer. William and his family returned to Carson, California in 1983 where he started his career with the Federal Government at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center as a Maintenance Engineer. Eventually William promoted to Bus Driver with the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center and enjoyed traveling/transporting VA patient's from Los Angeles to the Central Coast of California. William retired from Federal Service as a Bus Driver in 2003.

William was an avid hunter and fisherman and was able to live his life's dream of African Huntiing Safari and sport fishing in Panama and Costa Rica during his retirement and was a member of the National Brotherhood of Hunters. Although my dear Dad was taken too soon by metastatic prostate cancer; he enjoyed life and lived life by his rules. Dad encuraged male family and friends to; "check your PSA levels and stay on your Physician to Dad was a good son, father, kinsman, friend and neighbor. Dad was able to wage his battle with prostate cancer with the unyielding care and support of his dear friend/family Elora Montgomery who was by his side. Dad had the support of dear cousins and childhood friends and hunting buddies where he would share stories and recall memories that would take him away from cancer and back to his joyful childhood and carefree times. Dad's good neighbors in Carson who he "watched out for" and in turn always had kind thoughts and concern for Dad.

William is survived by his son Jason Condon and Daughter Carmen Condon, the Condon Cousins
